“For us, it’s really all about customer service.”

Christy Murphy is talking on the phone, answering questions beamed to her on a handheld radio and typing responses to the dozen or so delivery orders that are lighting up her computer screen. All at once.

As Jetco Delivery’s chief intermodal dispatcher, Murphy has perfected the art of multi-tasking. “I really thrive in this kind of environment,” Murphy says, taking a moment to pause and give directions to a driver in between sentences. “I love the communications between drivers and our customers and making sure that everything is coming together the way it should.”

Murphy, who started with Jetco as a dispatcher more than five years ago, has mastered the art of remaining calm in a hectic – sometimes chaotic – environment in which she’s constantly searching for ways to ensure that Jetco’s drivers get their shipments to customers safely and efficiently.

Part of her mastery includes a deep knowledge of the latest Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology that allows her to simply look at the computer screen and let a customer know where a shipment is at any given moment. “For us, it’s really all about customer service,” she says. “I think this GPS technology really helps us focus on the customer and meet their needs in a way that other companies like ours can’t.”

A native Texan, Murphy grew up in Deer Park, is a mom to a 3-year-old and spends her free time boating on Clear Lake. “I just love the water,” she says. “I just enjoy spending as much time as possible outside.”
