Jetco’s Standard Terms and Conditions of Service.
Each of our quotes is based on information provided by the customer. Price is based on one driver per truck and dock-to-dock delivery. Unless otherwise specified, price includes 90 minutes of free time on each end for loading/unloading for tractor service, and 45 minutes of free time on each end for loading/unloading LTL (straight truck) service. Detention is calculated in ¼ hour increments. Detention rate depends on the tractor/trailer combination used. Unless indicated above, the price excludes charges for detention time, per diem and additional stops.
The quoted rate depends on the value, weight and dimension of the property described. Any changes to the actual dimension, description or weight of the load will result in revisions to the quoted price. For oversize/overweight loads, the price includes all required permits and escorts as required based solely on the description provided to us at the time of issuing the quote. Additional charges apply for weekend and priority service. All quotes are based on availability at the time the order is received. Laws and regulations are subject to change and may affect quote. All permit costs along with time to obtain permits could change and if so will be communicated at time of order. We make no guaranty as to how long it may take for a permit authority to issue a permit, and we are not responsible for any costs associated with delays in transit due to permit office delays or any other governmental intervention. Nor shall we be liable for failure to perform any obligation resulting from circumstances beyond our control, including but limited to any force majeure, act of God, riot, war, terrorist act, civil disturbance, fire, explosion, flood, strike, lock-out, or labor disturbance.
Because our rates depend on the value of the property transported, shippers may be required to state, in writing, the value of their property. Jetco Delivery’s and Jetco Heavy Haul’s rates automatically include cargo coverage of $2.50 per pound, up to a maximum of $100,000 per shipment. If a shipper seeks greater coverage than previously described, the shipper must declare the value to us in writing prior to shipping the cargo, and such greater coverage must be authorized in advance in writing by an officer of Jetco. Only Jetco officers are authorized to bind Jetco to cargo limits in excess of our stated coverage. Our monetary liability will be limited to the amount of cargo insurance provided, unless a greater value is noted and accepted, in which case additional cargo insurance costs will be assessed. Under no circumstances will our cargo liability ever exceed $1.0 million per shipment. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HIDDEN OR CONCEALED DAMAGE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. All cargo liability insurance for loads performed by third party trucking companies on behalf of Jetco Logistics, LLC shall be subject to the amounts, terms, conditions and limitations of such third party trucking company. In order for a previously quoted rate to be valid, you must refer to the quote number at the time of booking. Quoted rates are valid for 30 days, subject to fluctuations in fuel price and the other variables listed herein. In the event of any discrepancy or conflict between the terms and conditions stated herein and those of any customer or shipper, the terms and conditions herein shall control, unless changes have been made by obtaining prior written approval in advance by an officer of Jetco. Jetco Delivery, L.L.C., Jetco Logistics, L.L.C., Jetco Leasing, L.L.C., Jetco Holdings, L.L.C., and Jetco Heavy Haul, L.L.C. are Texas limited liability companies, each of which (i) is solely responsible for its own debts and obligations, (ii) is not responsible for the debts and obligations of any other entity unless expressly agreed in writing, and (iii) is separate and distinct from, and not to be confused with, any other entity bearing a similar name or logo.
In order for our quoted rates to be valid, you must refer to the quote number at the time of booking. Quotes are valid for 30 days. However, we reserve the right to adjust quote at any time, without notice, to account for changes in fuel price. Unless expressly indicated in writing, our intermodal quotes exclude chassis rental charges in those cases where steamship lines do not provide the chassis at their cost.
How does cargo coverage work for loads managed by Jetco Logistics?
If a cargo claim would occur involving a third-party carrier, we would look to that carrier’s insurance. This is one reason why we rigorously pre-qualify all carriers. Cargo limits vary among carriers. It is essential that we know the value of your cargo so that we can ensure it is matched with a carrier having appropriate limits. Jetco Logistics also maintains a $250,000 contingent cargo policy which “steps in” if a problem occurs with the carrier’s policy.
What the Maersk change in supplying chasses means to you.
As you may know, Maersk is changing how they supply chasses for their containers effective June 1. They have created a new company called DirectLink to provide the chassis. Maersk will not directly supply the chassis any longer.
What does this mean? Direct Link is imposing a daily chassis charge of $11 for all Maersk and Saf-Marine intermodal drayage. By necessity, we will pass this charge through to our customers, plus an administrative fee. Our rate for using this chassis will be $15/day. This charge will apply for Maersk/Saf-Marine equipment outgated on or after June 1, 2010.
While the charge may not sound like a lot, please keep in mind that the charge is PER CALENDAR DAY. There is no “free time” or grace period for weekends. So, if we drop a Maersk container on Friday and return it on Monday, there will be 4 days of charges. There also may be instances where the load/unload occurs too late in the day for us to in-gate the chassis. If the chassis carries over to the next day, that will result in another day of chassis rent.
Here are a few direct quotes from DirectLink’s website:
Q: If a facility is closed on Saturday and Sunday will the daily use charge still apply?
A: Yes.
Q: Would the day out and day in both be $11.00 per day?
A: DCLI will bill per calendar day. If a chassis gates out on a Monday and comes back on a Tuesday the Drayman will be billed $11.00 for Monday and another $11.00 for Tuesday.
These charges may apply to other lines that trans-ship through Maersk, where a Maersk chassis is required. If you need any more information about this important change, please go to the following website: chassislink.com
Please feel free to call us also. We will do our best to help you navigate these changes at Maersk.
Finally, please keep in mind that Jetco operates a chassis pool, including both standard and specialty units. Please let us know if you need any information on our chassis options.
